Title: ADA Self-Evaluation & Transition Plan Requirements for Local Government Agencies

Description: The purpose of this training is to inform local public agencies of their responsibilities and requirements under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) with an emphasis on the public right-of-way. This course provides participants with an understanding of the risk’s agencies take by failing to have ADA self-evaluations and transition plans in place. Participants will be given the tools to evaluate their programs, services, and activities to ensure persons with disabilities are not excluded from participation in, or denied the benefits of the program, service, or activity. Participants will learn how to achieve compliance with ADA Title II administrative requirements. Templates will be provided, and available resources and best practices will be reviewed. Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in a formal Question and Answer session.

Desired audience: All local public agencies and ADA Coordinators/Responsible Employees

Topics covered: Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Architectural Barriers Act (ABA), ADA Title II Requirements, Public Right-of-way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG) and other federal/state laws and standards.

Length: 3 hours (2-hour presentation, 1-hour Q&A session)
