    IPWMAN has been preparing for the Democratic National Convention for several months in conjunction with many member agencies and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency – Office of Homeland Security.   Beginning with a virtual activation on August 17, 2024, transitioning to an in-person activation on August 19, then back to a virtual activation from August 23 until August 25, IPWMAN had a presence in the State Emergency Operations Center.  IPWMAN was also represented in the State Area Unified Command post and the Cook County Regional Security and Homeland Security Emergency Operations Center from August 19 through August 22, 2024.  Four Duty Officers, a Finance Section Chief, a Deputy Logistics Section Chief, and a Deputy Operations Chief were also standing by to support any member needs surrounding the DNC and the rest of the state.  There were no specific calls from member agencies for assistance during this time.

    On July 16, 2024, the City of Geneva requested IPWMAN to help remove debris following a tornado event. Nineteen member agencies deployed 33 responders and 40 pieces of equipment to complete the work on August 2, 2024. The City of Geneva did not incur a response cost, but the response was valued at $98,610 based on responders' pay rates and the FEMA Schedule of Equipment Rates (2023).
